Faster to build, affordable to own, and energy and ecologically efficient. This is what you get in a home that is built with modular construction, geothermal heating and cooling, and solar panels. These are the homes of the North Block at Jeffrey Place.
Solar Photovoltaic Panels: Photovoltaic (PV) is the technology of converting solar radiation or light energy into electricity. Simply put, we’re talking about solar panels. Solar panels, made of specially processed silicon, convert sunlight into electricity to power an electrical load. Conversion of the suns energy to electric power is renewable and free—forever.
Each North Block loft and townhome will have an individual solar panel array tied to the homes electric meter (on-grid). North Block loft and townhome owners can potentially sell excess electricity to AEP—depending on usage—and purchase electricity when needed. We’re proud to say, taken together, the solar arrays at NB1 are the largest solar panel installation of any neighborhood in the Midwest.
Geo Thermal Heating and Cooling:
The Geothermal heat pump is a highly efficient renewable energy technology. Its great advantage is that it works by concentrating naturally existing heat, rather than by producing heat by combustion of fossil fuels. The technology relies on the Earth’s relatively constant underground temperature of around 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The geothermal heat pump takes advantage of this by transferring heat stored in the Earth into a building through a closed loop system of tubes and water. North Block lofts and townhomes will have these highly efficient geothermal systems that use a small amount of energy to capture and move a large amount of energy. And this energy source is free, renewable, clean and environmentally friendly. Need we say more?
Heading- Modular Construction:
Pre-fabricated, modular housing has been reborn. No longer does the word “pre-fab” conjure up images of trailers and small bungalows – instead, in the minds of North America’s architects, designers, builders and upscale homeowners, “pre-fab” means “luxury.” It’s an idea that is catching fire. and Jeffrey Place is fanning the flame with the eco-friendly condos at NB1.
Jeffrey Place’s North Block condos boast a fresh, modern design, with an innovative alternative to traditional homebuilding. Modular building is also inherently green—less than two percent waste is product with modular building that’s in stark contrast to the 30 percent waste that accumulates with conventional building.
People are drawn to the modular movement for many reasons: environmental, aesthetic and logistic. Our North Block lofts and townhomes are a critical part of this green living movement in the Midwest, from both a functional and design perspective. Designed by visionary architect George Acock, of Acock Associates Architects, the North Blocks lofts and townhomes are a perfect example of the marriage between design and function.
The modern design is pleasing to the senses and the sensibility of the project’s green living components make it an easy choice for forward-thinking homebuyers.
Is the phrase "affordable, stylish house" an oxymoron? Certainly not.
